Archer won the Best Investigative Journalists of the Year
Award for 2001-2002 by the Ghana Journalist Association
(GJA). He has also been appointed News Editor and, at age
27, is therefore the youngest news editor in Ghana [or perhaps
in Africa] working with the one of the biggest independent
dailies and also the youngest to win the award. The IJYA
is one of the most prestigious journalism awards in Ghana.
In the 2001, he was a co-winner of the Best West African
Journalism Awards organized by the West African Journalists
Association and the sponsored by the European Commission.
In 2002, he won the Global Gold Medal of the Lorenzo Natalie
Prize for excellence in Journalism. In the same year, he
won the Africa prize of the Lorenzo Natalie Prize organized
by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and
sponsored by the European Union.
- The
2nd Global Investigative Journalism Conference ended in
Copenhagen on May 4 with the formation of a Global Investigative
Journalism Network to support the training and sharing of
information among journalists in investigative and computer-assisted
